About the Bar
Step inside. The patio doors are open to encourage the last rays of the evening sun and the breeze. There is a murmur of conversation punctuated by laughter. Have a seat in the deep comfort of a leather club chair, perch at the bar, or take a table. The place is lively and friendly, with an Old World air conveyed by golden light, antique architectural details, and quiet, professional service.
A soulful and witty eclecticism defines the timeless tunes you’ll hear at the Bar. George and Ira Gershwin meet Queen Latifah, Smokey Robinson rubs shoulders with Astrud Gilberto, Sting and Sammy Cahn play side by side. Our ambient music is a lovingly compiled collection of American standards, cool bossa nova beats, R&B, jazz… old school, contemporary, and some great music that defies classification. Sit, relax, enjoy.
Our building dates from the late 1800s and, at various times, has housed a gentlemen’s haberdashery, shoe store, millinery shop, ladies fine clothier and an architecture firm. In 2002, Mark Bohanan opened the restaurant on the second floor. When the first floor became available in 2008, he was able to fulfill his dream of opening an urban bar with Old World ambience. Now, the interior is resplendent with architectural details salvaged from 18th and 19th Century buildings… the perfect setting for a civilized evening of cocktails and conversation.
